Lets face it! The Grammy’s are here and we have some amazingly talented nominees to choose from. Within the Hip Hop and RnB genres, the year started with a bang when Migos dropped “Culture II” in January, then Cardi B followed up in the second quarter with “Invasion Of Privacy”. The Carters then slid through, closing out the quarter with a banger, “Everything Is Love”. If you thought these albums would be difficult to top, check out Travis Scott’s “Astroworld”, Nicki Minaj’s “Queen”, and Eminem’s “Kamikaze” who all released praise worthy albums during the third quarter. If I had to pick one, I’d say Ella Mai came through and destroyed the charts, during the fourth quarter with “Ella Mai” the album.
Must we choose between what’s currently hot and poppin’? Now, I’m the first to say it, “Pick a side, pick a side”, but there are so many great songs and albums out that are nominated, it is easy to feel torn. Currently, Cardi B’s “ I Like It” is nominated for Record of the year along with Drake’s “ God’s Plan”, Childish Gambino “This is America”, and many others. I want to support my girl Bardi, but I think she has some stiff competition this year. Another category that has caused a lot of chatter is Album Of The Year. Between Cardi, Drake, H.E.R., Janelle Monáe, Post Malone, and Kendrick Lamar, this one will be a tough choice, but you probably know who my money is on! I cannot forget about my girl Ella Mai; she was nominated for Song Of The Year with “Boo’D Up, and yasssss child, I am here for it. Just in case you missed the announcement, the Grammy Awards show is set to Air February 10, 2019. Will you be watching, and who are you rooting for?
